Statewide tornado drill set for March 23 amid Severe Weather Awareness Week

(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police has announced that a statewide tornado drill is scheduled for March 23 at 1 p.m.

State police are encouraging businesses, non-profits, families and individuals are encouraged to participate in the drill.

“Last summer in Michigan, we saw the devastating impacts of severe weather, from flooding to tornadoes and straight-line winds,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Sorry concert lovers, Saint Andrew's Hall temporarily shut down over structural issues

DETROIT (WXYZ) — The City of Detroit has announced that Saint Andrew’s Hall in downtown Detroit is no longer allowed to hold any future events at the moment.

This restriction is set in place due to the venue’s floor nearly buckling during Tuesday’s show featuring rapper and songwriter Baby Keem.

According to Live Nation Entertainment, which operates Saint Andrews Hall, a joint in the floor became loose as the crowd became excited. The company says the floor did not buckle. The venue ended Baby

Pure Michigan: 2 historic lighthouses awarded $100,000 in grants for preservation

LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) — With the bodies of water Michigan has, it's no surprise that lighthouses are common on our freshwater coasts.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced Thursday that two historic lighthouses are awarded in total $100,00 in preservation grants.

The two grant recipients are the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association and the City of Grand Haven.

St. David's offering drive-thru ashes for Ash Wednesday

St David's Episcopal Church is offering a drive-thru for those observing Ash Wednesday.

From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 2, robed ministers will be standing outside the church distributing ashes and prayer cards.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Stellantis union workers in the U.S. will be eligible to receive one of the largest profit-sharing amounts in decades, the company announced Wednesday.

Stellantis reported that its net profit was 13.4 billion euros in its first year. Union workers are eligible for up to $14,670 in profit sharing. Lincoln Park is getting its first recreational dispensary

Pleasantrees, a Michigan dispensary, will open a new Lincoln Park location this Friday. The new location will be serving both medical and recreational cannabis. According to its press release, this will be Lincoln Park's first recreational dispensary and one of a few in the downriver area.

OXFORD, Mich. (WXYZ) — This upcoming Monday, Oxford High School students will be walking into their high school for the first time since Nov. 30, 2021. Officials have released photos of the new interior look these students will see.
