Detroit officials investigate house fire that killed woman in her 90s

DETROIT, Mich. – A Detroit woman was killed after her home went up in flames.

According to officials, the woman in her 90s died in a house fire located in the city’s north end.

It is confirmed that the fire occurred on Wednesday morning, but officials have not reported precisely what time.

It is unknown how the fire started. The cause is currently under investigation.

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Jaylin Brazier, the cousin of Zion Foster, has been charged with first-degree murder more than a year after the Eastpointe teenager went missing.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday, June 13, that Brazier, 24, has been charged in connection with the homicide of his 17-year-old cousin.

Busch Light has announced the release of a limited edition peach-flavored light lager, which is now available for consumers.

Semi truck loaded with empty beer kegs crashes, caught on fire after speeding on I-94

SCIO TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A semi truck hauling empty beer kegs was involved in a crash that temporarily closed I-94 westbound in Washtenaw County.

Officials reported that the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday near Jackson Avenue in Scio Township.

Police say the semi truck was driving too fast for a curve, lost control, ran off the road, and then caught on fire.

Lawsuit: Michigan farm exploited immigrant workers, gave them substandard living conditions

WEST OLIVE, Mich. – A lawsuit has been filed against a Michigan farm for human trafficking and violating the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act.

Reported by The Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC), the lawsuit has been filed against First Pick Farms located out of West Olive, Michigan.

According to the MIRC, First Pick Farms allegedly forced immigrant farmworkers to leave North Carolina in the middle of the night and placed them in vans traveling to Michigan in 2017.

SOUTHGATE, Mich. – Police are searching for a Southfield girl who was last seen at an MJR movie theater Downriver.

Southfield officials say Kaiden Suttles, 12, was last seen on Saturday night around 9 p.m. at the MJR movie theater in Southgate.

Suttles was last seen wearing a blue tank top with a black zip-up hoodie, blue jean shorts, and black flip-flops. Police say she was also carrying a brown and blue Coach backpack.

DETROIT – Police are looking for a person who may be in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Detroit.

Detroit officials say a hit-and-fun occurred on Sunday around 3:40 a.m. near 7 Mile Road and Hoover Street. A man in his 40s died after being hit by a vehicle.

Fire in the hole! Infamous smokestack in Detroit successfully demolished

DETROIT – On Sunday morning, a former waste energy facility trash incinerator in Detroit came crashing down.

Officials say that while the incinerator is officially down, a lot of work still needs to be done. The incinerator lived on a former waste energy site near the I-94 and I-75 interchange in Southwest Detroit.

This smokestack was the last one of three still standing until this weekend. The former waste energy smokestack closed in 2019 and has been slowly tearing down since then.

Livingston County man arrested after holding woman captive, sexually exploiting her for over 5 years

UNADILLA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Livingston County man has been arrested after keeping a woman captive for over five years.

On Friday, Daryl Lanzon of Unadilla Township was arrested on a multiple-count felony arrest which the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office issued.

Woman dies from injuries after partner crashes boat into dock in St. Clair County

ALGONAC, Mich. – A woman has died after being injured in a boating incident in St. Clair County.

The state of Michigan has a very strong influence within the world of music.

With ties to almost every genre, the state is no stranger to shows taking place anywhere and anytime.

Some of my best memories have been at Pine Knob, or what the kids know it as, DTE Amphitheater.

If you have never been to an outdoor concert in Michigan, highly recommend it. From county hoedowns to classic rock, there are many shows you can choose from that’ll take place all over the state.

DETROIT – The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is almost here.

The event that brings in so many people to the Motor City is around the corner, and for the first time since 1991, the race will take place in Downtown Detroit.

Detroit officials investigate house fire that killed woman in her 90s

DETROIT, Mich. – A Detroit woman was killed after her home went up in flames.

According to officials, the woman in her 90s died in a house fire located in the city’s north end.

It is confirmed that the fire occurred on Wednesday morning, but officials have not reported precisely what time.

It is unknown how the fire started. The cause is currently under investigation.

Officials want to remind everyone to have working smoke detectors and a fire escape plan in case of a house fire.

Southwest Detroit’s main street receives accreditation for commitment to economic, community development

DETROIT – A main street in a Detroit neighborhood has been accredited for meeting the goals of the Main Street America program.

The accreditation of SouthWest’s Hubbard Street has been made in recognition of the area’s commitment to economic and community development through the program.

In 2017, the Southwest Detroit Business Association applied for the Michigan Main Street program and was selected by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation the following year. According to the Southwest

Detroit’s Anita Baker drops Babyface as supporting act on tour after Twitter feud

A Detroit legend has dropped her supporting act for her tour after a social media feud.

It’s gotten so serious that Anita Baker announced she’s dropping R&B star Babyface from the tour.

Baker and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds has made timeless songs during their careers.

Now it’s the end of the road of The Songstress Tour with Babyface as the special guest. The tour heads to Detroit on July 2.
